“The Warsaw Mermaid” –

There are various legends about the Warsaw mermaid. Tour guides will tell you that a mermaid was swimming in the river when she stopped on a riverbank near the Old Town to rest. She liked the city that much, she decided to stay on. Local fishermen noticed that something seemed to be tangling nets, and releasing their fish. So, they waited for her and tried to catch her, but when she started to sing, they couldn’t help but fall in love with her. Someone did catch and imprison her but the fishermen came to her rescue. Now, armed with a sword and a shield, she protects the city and its people
