What you need to know before your trail

In the beachside resort of Pattaya, happy families holiday alongside the hidden underbelly of the area with bars and go go clubs vying for trade. A woman has fallen off the roof of a club and Jayne Keeney, a Private investigator is hired to find out what happened. Whilst the official verdict is suicide, Jayne is not so sure, so she goes undercover and as no-one suspects an australian would speak fluent thai, gets into places and situations that no one else could.

But she is about to see the very sad situation of orphanages, strip bars, and the poor people that end up in both as her investigation takes her places you really don’t want to go for real.

Travel Guide

Pattaya – a place for tourists, family’s and their friendly locations side by side sleazy bars and back street strip clubs. Quite a mix. When Jayne comes across a murder of  a tourist, she soon sees how these two worlds living side by side actually mix  – woman put their children into the care of these places while working to get any money they can in the clubs next door. Some orphanages ‘provide’ children for western adoption overseas.

From one location it is interesting to see so many examples and view points of the same issue. Whatever Jayne or we as the reader see, is not the view held by the woman working in the club just trying to feed her child.

Pattaya thrived on degradation. They could blame it on the American based in Thailand during the Vietnam War – Pattaya was a sleepy little fishing village until the GIs started using it as an R and R port.

Seen through Jayne’s eyes, the locations and settings her are sad and her desire to investigate using her own unique methods and no nonsense questioning is very interesting to say the least and mixes so many issues, locations and cultural divides so well.
