What you need to know before your trail

January, Fjällbacka. A semi-naked girl wanders through the woods in freezing cold weather. She wanders into the path of an incoming car and she dies instantly. When the police see the body, they are disturbed to find that the girl has some very unique features  – a sign of brutal torture and disturbing methods. They also discover that she disappeared almost four months previously and has not been seen since.

Whilst Patrick Helstrom investigates this disturbing crime, his wife is looking into an old case of a tragedy which led to a wife being convicted of her husband’s death. Erika is not convinced this case is over and when it becomes evident that there is a lot more at stake, it could be that this case is linked to that poor girl in the snow – the ice child.

Travel Guide

F for Fjällbacka and freezing freezing temperatures and frozen ground covered in snow. Missing girls and one found wandering naked in the woods, her facial features deformed by unimaginable torture.

There are more girls to come it would seem and as investigations take the police to an old house where something terrible has happened, the woods and the surrounding area take on a chill factor never before seen in Camilla Lackberg novels

Just who and why is responsible  – someone in this small community? One of their own. There is evil lurking and the twist is evil too.

To temper this, there are cosy Scandinavian scenes where the eating of cinnamon buns is law and where the homely interior of Erica and Patriks home life makes this a nice respite for what is going on outside…
