This book is inspired by real facts – and that’s the scary part. In 1846 – 7, a group of travellers and settlers known as The Donner Party set out into the unknown on an adventure of a lifetime. They would trek miles through the most remote landscape in the USA. However, one wrong turn and a few bad decisions meant that the adventure soon became a nightmare.
In this book, Parker is intrigued by the mysterious disappearance of the Aroostook Baptists, a religious community that disappeared in the dark forests of Maine forty years earlier. Arootook country is one made up of fields and lakes where all kind of darkness can happen.
Oh and if you head down to the Maine woods – be careful of the man they call Mr Pudd. A childish name perhaps, but one that will haunt your dreams as an adult…
