Why a Booktrail?
2000s: It certainly is grim up north if this book is anything to go by!

DS Harri Jacobs transferred to Newcastle from the Met in the hope of leaving her past behind: the moment where her stalker turned violent. He left her alive, saying that one day he would be back. And she ran.
But a year later, she realises he has followed her from home. He’ll prove his devotion. With blood.
If this is the Newcastle that she’ll be heading straight back down to London on the next train. Talk about a war zone – well the parts featured Elswick and Benwell are described as “Mini Beirut” so you get the picture and even by the opening scene of what is a literary horror movie, the blood flows on a horrific murder which is then posted on social media. It goes to say this is not for the faint hearted.
Much of the action takes place in and around DS Harri’s flat on the Quayside. Even that is grim- being on the fifth floor of a derelict building on an embankment shrouded in darkness. However she often goes jogging along the river and comments on the beauty of the Millennium Bridge with its hypnoptic blue lights – “A poetic feat of balance and modern-day engineering” The dazzling lights reflected off the menacing water” A real contrast of a place then for an police officer to live. Run yourself along the banks of the river to the Free Trade Inn where she stops – it is a nice view.
And during your stay in this Newcastle, you’d be wise to cover your ears – for “the banter is enough to make Vinnie Jones blush” Gripping, dark, and deadly.
