2000s: Some women get everything. Some women get everything they deserve.
2000s: Some women get everything. Some women get everything they deserve.
Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more–a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.
To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne–a socialite and philanthropist–and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.
Amber’s envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn’t have a plan. Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family’s life–the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.
“Bishop’s Harbor” is the fictional setting – it’s a harbour town in CT so is about where Bridgeport is located. Amber takes the train into New York and it’s not that far so, why not explore Bridgeport? You wouldn’t want to live where Amber does anyway. She’s a bit of a character that one!
Amber’s Guide to the city without spending much money:
Head straight to the big apple via the train station and then to 5th avenue where the Public Library is located. It sounds nice and Amber is keen to drink it all in:
“Her first top was always the main reading room of the New York Public Library. She would sit at one of the long reading tables as the sun poured in through the tall windows and drink in the beatuy of the celing frescoes. Today she felt especially comforted by the books that climbed the walls”
Of course 5th Avenue is full of all those posh shops Amber admires but has to walk past.
Expensive to stay here but instead do like Amber – She considers going in and walk on the red carpet here but is too hungry so she leaves and eats her packed lunch in the park since she can’t afford to go to a museum and eat out all in one day.
Over the past two years, Amber has walked the length and breadth of this museum. She likes studying the arts nd sitting in on lectures and films about the work and their creators. She found her lack of knowledge daunting at first, but slowly but surely, she had read borrowed books about art and then see what she had learned on her next visit to the museum. This is a way of improving herself,to be more educated in this things for when she finally gets the life she dreams of and gets to mix with the people she really wants to be with.
Why not take a drive up to Long Island Sound, park your car and dream of the house you want to live in like Amber? Sounds a bit stalkerish really, but she thinks it’s her looking in to the world of the wealthy and how they keep it hidden from people like her. It’s where Daphne lives and where with the seed sowen, the jealousy starts to grow
