Rose says: ‘Eager to know what happened to all in ‘Pride & Prejudice’, once it’s hero & heroine had their happy ending, I decided to lend a quill to my two favourite characters, Mr Collins and Mr Bennet, and let them reveal all through their written correspondence.
What emerged was a collection of letters, written over a seven year period, reflecting the inner workings of both men and their observations on the lives of others.’
In the author note, Rose says:
The book contains the contents of a collection of letters found at Longbourn, a dwelling dating from 1712 built on what was considered a moderate sized estate in the Hertfordshire countryside.
The letters are correspondence between Mr Henry Bennet and his cousin Revered Mr William Collins who resided at Hunsford Parsonage until his inheritance of the Longbourn estate on the death of Mr Bennett.
They are archived at the University of Hertfordshire library.
