Travel Guide

If you are planning on heading out into theAmazon jungle anytime soon then this is surely the guide book to beat all guide books. This is not an easy trek however – there are all kinds of dangers in the jungle and whilst there might be more technology to navigate your way, the insects and killer fish which existed in 1911 – 1950 might still be there. Or maybe some species which has not yet been discovered.

Percy Harrison Fawcett  was the most intrepid explorer of his day. His desire to find the  Lost City of El Dorado was legendary then as it is now. His eventual disappearance was one of the biggest world mysteries of its time. Such a figure and its no surprise that he is thought to be the inspiration behind Conan Doyle’s `The Lost World’

There have been many attempts since to find the Lost world but all have failed. Many have even went the same way as Fawcett himself and have never returned. others have been injured or become sick after their journey. At the end of the book, the author himself follows in his footsteps. Travel to the Amazon is a real life challenge and draw to many even now.

Grann also paints quite the picture of how the Amazon remains one of the biggest enigmas of its time and such a draw to explorers through time.
