Suffolk – Lavenham
Lavenham is a village in the Babergh district, in the county of Suffolk, England. It is noted for its Guildhall, Little Hall, 15th-century church, half-timbered medieval cottages and circular walks. The perfect place to set a novel about land girls and soldiers during the war years.
The author mentions that she took a lot of liberty with the village but that it is there in essence. The Swan hotel is real and appears as the Duck pub in the book. You can imagine an airfield in the surrounding area.
