Dabney Kimball Beech, is Director of the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce and for as long as she can remember, she’s had a gift for matchmaking couples – she is proud of the fact that 52 are still together.
But now, Dabney has to make some of the most heartbreaking matches she will ever have to do. She’s been feeling ill recently and her wish now is to find matches for loved ones very close to home: her husband, lover and daughter.
This is not going to be easy as in her determination to organise what she can as she gets sicker and sicker, she might forget to take care of her own relationships in the time she has left.

Within the small and happy community on Nantucket island, Dabney has lived there her whole life. Now 48, she has known and loved the island and its people, having seen it all over the years. Life does appear good, with her husband a famous economics professor at Harvard and their daughter Agnes.
Dabney is not just known for her personal life however – she is the woman to go to to find love as she knows you better than you know yourself. It depends on whether you have an aura around you apparently and what colour that aura is.
At first she doesn’t know why she is feeling ill, but knows that she feels uneasy – her lover Clendenin has just returned to the island after many years absence and she is convinced that Agnes is engaged to the wrong man
For a woman fixated on good matches and despite being married, her love for Clendenin, her first love and Agnes’ father is her own real match.
The star of Nantucket Island is not following her own advice and an affair is not what the matchmaker ordered, yet with her illness diagnosed she is keen to revisit her Nantucket early days, why she stayed when Clendenin left, why she married her husband.
The love that started on Nantucket all those years ago has now come back but time is running out..
