What you need to know before your trail

Lymstock should be a place to rest and recuperate. That’s what Joanna Burton hoped for when she and her brother, an airline pilot, move there in order for him to convalesce when he is shot down in action in WW2.

AT first village life is good and quiet, home is a nice small cottage and rural life is just what the doctor ordered. They rent the cottage from Miss EMily Barton and get to know her and the other villagers quite quickly.

But one day the Burtons receive a poisonous letter and it seems that they are not the only ones. Mrs Symmington  – the wife of the local solicitor receives one and soon after she takes her own life. What terrified her so much about the letter that causes her to do this?

When the family maid is found dead, the whole affair becomes a lot darker and a lot more sinister…
