The Museum of Innocence is set in Istanbul and tells the story of Kemal, the son of one of Istanbul’s richest families, and of his obsessive love for a poor and distant relation, the beautiful Füsun, who is a mere shop-girl .
You know when you hear of things in novels and think ‘ if only that were real’ – we don’t mean locations as such as many of them are – no – we’re talking about special locations such as Narnia or the bookshop in Gabrielle Zevin’s The Storied Life of AJ Fikry?- Well it just so happens that someone else has thought the same thing and has actually gone ahead and built it.
