Thank goodness The Avenue is fictional…but is it? that’s what grabs you in this novel as it’s a vague street in Surburbia which could be any street and any city where families believe life is going to be different from the city.
An avenue with friendly neighbours. There’s a shop, a Doll and Fancy Dress Emporium, a friendly postman. Neighbours who look out for you? Or are they looking AT you? Watching you?
The novel is set in Essex as the Essex Edgelands are mentioned being close by and that Raleigh Police station is the one involved in the case.
The locations are vague here, but then again that’s the whole point. It could be anywhere…..
