Have they missed their one chance at happiness? They only way they will ever know is to risk everything to be together. Is that too high a price to pay for love…?
Omagh bombing
The author explains that the novel is inspired by the bombing in her own town of Omagh. In 1998, 29 people were killed when a car bomb exploded. Hundreds more were injured. This bombing was the worst atrocity in over 30 years of the Troubles.
The novel opens with a quote from John Hume, one of the biggest advocates for peace in the area, He sadly died in 2020 when the author was writing the first draft of the novel.
