The armies of the Dark Lord are massing as his evil shadow spreads ever wider. Men, Dwarves, Elves and Ents unite forces to do battle agains the Dark. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam struggle further into Mordor in their heroic quest to destroy the One Ring.
The village where it all begins
The forested areas of Mount Victoria, within walking distance of the central city, were used to depict Hobbiton Woods, where the hobbits hid from the black riders.
Wellington’s Kaitoke Regional Park became Rivendell, where Frodo recovered from the knife attack.
Queen Elizabeth Park near Paraparaumu was used for filming the Nazgul and mumakil in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
Over the hills through the Wairarapa region next to the Putangirua Pinnacles, where Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli sought the Paths of the Dead.
This is a sheer-sided hill that was the set for Edoras, the main city of the Rohan people.
The set no longer exists but true fans will see be able to feel and see it in their minds eye.
