What you need to know before your trail

Wynn and Jack have been best friends since their first day of college, brought together by their shared love of literature and the great outdoors. When they decide to take time off university and canoe down the Maskwa River in northern Canada, they anticipate the ultimate wilderness experience. No phones.  No fellow travellers. No way of going back.

But as a raging wildfire starts to make its way towards them, their idyllic expedition becomes a desperate race for survival. And when a man suddenly appears, claiming his wife has vanished, the fight against nature’s destructive power becomes entangled with a much deadlier game of cat and mouse.

Because the only thing more dangerous than a burning forest is a man’s thirst for revenge

Travel Guide

Travel BookTrail style via canoe along the Maskwa River, Canada

Best friends Jack and Wynn go canoeing on the  Maskwa River, right into the heart of the Canadian wilderness. This is an adventure, there is a sense of freedom and letting go, connecting with nature and enjoying their friendship. It’s one giant adventure and the landscape is stunning so why wouldn’t they want to go?

However, the area is one filled with danger.  There is  a wildfire which  gets worse and worse. It’s there in the background – licking at their heels. They go back to warn others, only to find the fire isn’t their greatest threat. The sense of the open spaces, danger lurking around every corner, the threatening hush of the water and the deadly Rockies is everywhere – looming large at every turn. The wild fires are there in the background, controlling where the boys can go whilst also preventing their escape….

Claustrophobic with a great sense of setting, time and place and the intricacies of camping and canoeing in the wild.
