The End of the world

This is an insight surely about what the world might just look like and smell and feel like. It’s an odd place to be – and one man and one boy who are walking through the desolation and the sparse landscape where extinction is all around.

What does it feel like for this man and boy who are facing death and the extinction of the species.

Ian Patrick, photo blogger and reader says  “Snow is often associated with a feeling of bleakness despite the white glow when the sun hits it and dazzles our eyes. McCarthy used this feeling well as the father and son endured the journey together and battled the elements of weather and being pursued. It also conveyed an apocalyptic sense of hope, much like Christmas when the relatives arrive!

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, McCarthy said that the inspiration for the book actually came during a visit to El Paso, Texas in 2003, with his young son. He found himself imagining what the city might look like in fifty to a hundred years time.
