The novel takes place in the woods. It’s never clear which woods or where about this novel is set but it’s clearly the UK. Since the author lives in Brighton, the map looks at areas in and around that city. Devil’s Dyke is a very aptly named place is it not?
Plenty of woods such as Friston Woods, near to where the author lives.
You probably wouldn’t want to go in the woods with any of this lot, if they were your friends or not. A VERY good atmospheric novel of teenage games, what it means to get lost in the woods, to wander around with your friends and hang out there. But when the woods get dark, they can get very dark indeed.
