Travel Guide

A tour of Edinburgh

The city of Edinburgh comes into its own in this novel. The dark and narrow alleys of the Old Town are described as being treacherous in the rain and they are. They appear as shadowy and suspicious here and are a great setting for a novel.

The author evokes the streets well and like her characters seems to have a soft spot for the old town. There’s a race in town which takes the runners from Cockburn street and the royal mile down to the station.

Two snippets from the author:

‘Brewster Bay’ – this is my fictional name for a village but the village itself is based on Burghead in Moray, a wee fishing village where I used to live

Lesmahagow – this is a tiny town where my best friend lives. She always says nothing much happens there so it’s my goal to make it appear in every novel, one way or another! It’s just a mention though, no actual action there.
