Nine-year-old twins Abigail and Olivia  are as close as twins can be and promise each other that they will never be parted. But one day Abigail goes missing from Blackwater Farm

DS Jennifer Knight is assigned to the case. Tragically Olivia’s reaction to her twin’s disappearance is to go mute. Jennifer tries to coax something out of her, a word,a clue a whisper of something.

A whisper does come…it’s so quiet she’s not sure if she’s heard right. For when Olivia whispers something in her ear, it’s the voice of Abigal pleading and begging to be found.

Twin sister Olivia has been mute since Abigail’s disappearance. But when she whispers in Jennifer’s ear, Jennifer realises it is Abigail’s voice pleading to be found.

Fictional settings

Difficult to booktrail since all the settings are fictional. However there are a few places which may inspire you given the names invented such as Blackwater and Lexton. However the settings here are not those you would want to visit for real.

Blackwood Farm (fictional)

Just as well this farm is fictional as you’d not want to go there. Or any where near it. It’s dark, damp, disturbing and cold. Set in the middle of nowhere, somewhere in your worst nightmare, this farm is surrounded by desolate scrubland and infested with secrets, old and new. There is a  place called Blackwater however so we’ve put this on the map.

Within the house itself”

“There has been unusual activity in the form of light bulbs blowing, banging on the walls and…um… ‘ She swallowed hard, throwing Jennifer a sideways glance..’furniture moving by itself”

“It’s like the house is alive…”
