What you need to know before your trail

Simon, a young gay English teacher, goes to work in southern Portugal.

He is surprised  at two things – that he ends up in to end up in an affair with a female colleague Elaine  and that the recent revolution is still peaceful.

As both the revolution and the love affair turn sour, Simon learns the truth as Luis once told him: that revolution is an experiment you make with your own body.

Travel Guide

From post punk London, we travel all the way to an unglamorous and politically tense post-Salazar Portugal.

Our guide is a self obsessed young gay English teacher who spends his time ‘working’ in Portugal but instead lurches from bar to bar from one sexual encounter to the next. He might be having a crisis of sorts or if not that,a nightmare as those around him are the type of creatures you would only hope to meet in such a scenario. At such a time in the country’s history, Simon appears to have no concept or idea of where he is and what he is doing which makes for some fun and witty commentary.

This novel is set in an unglamorous and politically tense post-Salazar Portugal. This Portugal is poor, dirty and suffering deeply from its political upheaval in every sense of the word.
