The author has taken a very real town in Ireland a fictional house, and made them the most magical of places.
The novel is set between Shannon airport, Ennis and the fictional village of Thornwood. There is a house called Thornwood there where Anna works. This village is some 20 mins from Ennis.
This is a magictal tale of the Irish fascination with the Seanachaí (Story Teller), the Piseogs (superstitions), the Fairies and The Other World.
