Ferdinand is the world’s most peaceful and beloved little bull.
Ferdinand is not like every other little bull. Whilst his friends like snort, leap, and butt their heads, Ferdinand is happy just sitting there and admiring the flower and the view. His favourite place to site is underneath his favourite tree in the shade.
Whilst the other bulls train and dream of the day they’ll get to go and fight in Madrid, Ferdinand is different. But one day he is sent to fight in a ring by mistake. Only he doesn’t want to. Ferdinand doesn’t fight and he instead the matadors are humiliated as they try to provoke him into getting angry
A story with a lovely pacifist message regarding the choice to fight or not. Ferdinand stands out from the crowd as he is expected to fight like al the other bulls but refuses to do so. The clamour of the crowd, the shimmering costumes and red cloths of the matador, the sandy ring, the cheering can not lead Ferdinand to fight.
In a country where bull fighting is part of history and tradition, this book illustrates that no everyone has to follow the crowd.
