High on the cliffs of Morocco, far from the city lights and the souks, stands The Surf House: a sanctuary for travellers chasing sunshine and waves.
But the idyll hides a dark mystery.
And when Bea washes in, seeking refuge after a dangerous encounter in Marrakesh, she soon gets caught in the current.
A woman her age – who stayed in the same area, walked the same beaches, met the same guests – disappeared one year earlier, vanishing without trace.
Somewhere inside The Surf House lies the truth – but there’ll be a price for uncovering it…
Morocco
Mallah.
The novel takes place in Marrakech and in the fictional village of Mallah. There is a suburb of Marrakech very similar sounding which is interesting but it’s not a real place. There are a few southern villages where surfing actually is really good and two are on the map!
Lucy Clarke must have been reading my mind when writing this book. I follow her on insta and have always been fascinated by her love of surfing, beach life etc. I am so not sporty but surfing, well there seems to be a community, a way of life almost with it and it fascinates me. Well this novel allows you to step inside that world ( well ok with added danger and death potentially) but you know what I mean.
it takes place in a fictional beach town in Morocco – I never knew there were surfing hot spots there! But this just opened my eyes to a whole new world and it was fascinating.
The storyline was gripping and fast paced.Characters were evil yet good and there were so many red herrings it was fantastic to be part of it. I felt the sun on my back as the atmosphere is so well crafted and the tension adds to the overall unease of being with strangers in a strange place.
Love it!Thanks Lucy for a wild experience!
