1975, present day: A missing girl, a body found 30 years later. What does writer Harry Quebert know?
The summer of 1975 , struggling author Harry Quebert fell in love with fifteen-year-old Nola Kellergan. Thirty-three years later, her body is dug up from his yard, along with a manuscript copy of the novel that made him a household name. Quebert is the only suspect.
Marcus Goldman – Quebert’s most gifted protégé – throws off his writer’s block to clear his mentor’s name. Solving the case and penning a new bestseller soon merge into one. As his book begins to take on a life of its own, the nation is gripped by the mystery of ‘The Girl Who Touched the Heart of America’.
But with Nola, in death as in life, nothing is ever as it seems.
This mystery story takes place in the fictional town of ‘Somerset’, New Hampshire. Somerset is a typical New England town, made up of many different places and nuances that many of the towns in this area share. There’s the diner, Shore Road, the woods, and the lake. A house where a writer would love to live, given its remote and peaceful location.
Of course, if you wish to visit the area, you will see the town of Somerset and the world of Harry Quebert everywhere. Betty’s Diner in Falmouth has a typical diner feel of New England where you could take your copy of the book and pretend you’re sitting at Harry’s table. The food is hearty and you could write your own novel and stay here all day, fuelled by the excellent coffee.
The town of Kennebunkport has a Goose Rocks Beach…..similar to Goose Cove in the novel?
