The setting for many a love affair and as in this book, one between a woman and a married man. If you focus on the musical interludes of the book though, there are some lovely places to come from the novel.
The orchestra plays in the Paris Conservatoire, and there’s scenes played out (sorry) in the famous Montmartre area where if you’re artistic yourself, you should head to Place due Tertre. don’t forget the Paris Opera too – perhaps one of the most musical places in the city.
The subject of the novel is about cellos and the making of them. The art of making musical instruments and is partly set in the very place which is famous for Stradivarius. Cremona – the city of music and violins. The Stradivarius collection at the Violin Museum testifies to the city’s violin-making heritage.
