What you need to know before your trail

From his office on the Street of the Assassins, Nathan Sutherland enjoys a steady but unexciting life translating Italian DIY manuals. All this changes dramatically when he is offered a large sum of money to look after a small package containing an extremely valuable antique prayer book illustrated by a Venetian master. But is it a stolen masterpiece – or a brilliant fake?

Unknown to Nathan, from a vast mansion on the Grand Canal twin brothers Domenico and Arcangelo Moro, motivated by nothing more than mutual hatred, have been playing out a complex game of art theft for twenty years. And now Nathan finds himself unwittingly drawn into their deadly business . . .

Travel Guide

Travel to Venice BookTrail style with TheVenetian Game

The author is originally from Wales and now lives in Venice which really offers a very interesting view of the city and its narrow streets and hidden corners. Seeing this famous city through the eyes of an outsider  who now lives there is a very unique one indeed. He evokes the city tourists might never see, includes nuances you might never think about and you get a real sense that you are wandering the city with him and his characters.

The streets are evoked with style and substance. Even the nightclubs and bars seem so real you feel you are there. Most of the locations in the book are real and if you want a unique view of Venice (which can be VERY touristy) then you can’t go far wrong than by taking this book and wandering around the city with it in hand.

The main character is an honorary consul in Venice so he has some funny opinions and views on the cultural differences which are amusing!
