Destination: Whitby Departure Time: Gothic times
What a way to bring Whitby to life for children young and old!
Ben and Jennet are orphans who are sent to Whitby to live with 92 year-old Alice. They’ve spent a lot of time in foster homes and have been passed from pillar to post as Ben can ‘ see’ things and people think he could be disturbed.
When in Whitby, the town built on gothic themes and frightening folklore, he is right at home. From the moment they arrive on the train, the magic of Whitby comes alive and the home of Dracula, the fierce black dog and much more jumps (not literally thankfully) right from the page.
You’ll never look at Whitby in the same way again
This is a great way to look at Whitby through new eyes and to learn of some of the tales of folklore, witches, myths the so-called fisher folk
Visit the Abbey where there is supposed to be a ghost and of course Dracula
Watch out for the legends of the town including the Barguest (the ghostly and very fierce black dog)
