What you need to know before your trail

Ten years ago, Mo arrived at the white cliffs of Dover, befriended by teenagers Cali and Jude.

They thought they’d save each other, yet within months their friendship would see two of them dead and the third scarred for life.

Now documentary maker Tarek and his film crew are in town, asking difficult questions about what happened that summer.

Because in the shadow of the white cliffs it’s easy for people and their stories to get lost . . .

And as Tarek will discover, the truth is something that must be unburied carefully.

Or it might just it bury you . . .

Travel Guide

BookTrail it down to Dover and the White Cliffs

“‘Cali hated Dover too. She used to call it a’ nowhere place’. She said the only people who ever came here were heading somewhere else.'”

Dover 2016

The story takes place back in 2016 against the backdrop of the migrant crisis which was happening at the time in Europe. Mo is one of these migrant teenagers and she is in the city to find her family.

Dover present day

Another timeline and the story looks at Tarek, a journalist looking into the accident several years earlier. His investigation into the tragedy which so badly affected the town, created divisions and high emotions is interesting. Some see this town as a new start, a haven, others see it as something they have to run from.

The White Cliffs of Dover have been immortalized in song, film and novels before but sadly this spot is also well known for suicides and accidents. The beauty and tragedy of this spot lends itself well to the story that unfolds.
