What you need to know before your trail

Two schoolgirls are abducted in the small, dying Warwickshire town of Polesford and the community is shocked. Helen Weeks is the police officer sent back to where she grew up and also the place she escaped from. The accused turns out to be Bates – the husband of an old school friend, so Helen  and her partner Tom Thorne go back to support her. Everyone is baying for Bates’ blood but the wife claims he is innocent. However there is still a girl missing and the murderer they think they have in custody might not be who they think he is. Thorne is soon on the case, but there are many obstacles from all directions  in his way.

Travel Guide

Detectives Tom Thorne and Helen Weeks are on holiday in the Cotswolds, but are called back when two girls go missing in the Warwickshire village of Polesford.

Polesford is fictional but closely based on the real town of Polesworth in Warwickshire. There are some sights mentioned such as the abbey and the high street which are worth a visit.

This is the small town where Helen Weeks grew up and moved away from and now those people she knows, the alley ways she probably skipped down are the very ones she is having to retrace in the case of two missing girls.

Imagine it’s your old school friend’s husband who is charged with the crimes?  The town (Polesford) is not as welcoming as you might think. This is  a closed knit community and several threads from several people -the police, bystanders, the criminal and the victim all form a picture.
