2000s: How do you catch a killer who knows everything about you..
I’ve been watching you DS Alice Parr.
I saw you trying to save the poor young woman you found in the park. The woman I tried to kill.
I’ve been waiting for you to find her family. To find someone who cares about her.
But you can’t can you? You’ve never had a case like this. I know everything about you. You know nothing about me.
Even though I’m the man you’re looking for.
And you will never catch me…
The novel starts here with a stabbing in Brunswick Square and from there, the city doesn’t get to look any better. The police are in at the deep end and the case takes on a dramatic turn from the get go. The city of London remains a backdrop but the mean streets, the DNA centre at Haringey, the police investigations take them from one place to another until the city blurs into one large tapestry of intrigue.
No spoliers but this city soon becomes the next stage of the investigation. Here’s the police of New York and those of Long Island add to a growing case of intrigue and they are soon on the trail of something very interesting for the case in London. No spoilers here but Setauket on Long island sounds nice!
