2000s: Travelling to Tuscany has never been so summery!
When Olivia Montague’s grandmother passes away, she decides it’s finally time to make some changes in her own life. So she breaks up with her ‘going nowhere’ boyfriend and embarks on a journey to her Nonna’s home in Tuscany.
Until now, Olivia has always believed that she’s incapable of love, after being abandoned by her parents as a baby. But with each day spent at the gorgeous villa nestled in the rolling Italian hills, she feels her heart begin to flutter…
And when handsome antiques dealer Hugh St. James arrives on the scene, she realises things might be about to change forever!
The Tuscan Hills – Taken at the Fattoria La Loggia in Montefiridolfi in the Val de Pesa, South of Florence and once owned by the Medici family – it is an utterly charming farm with vineyards and olive groves, now agritourism so guests get to stay and submerge themselves in the beautiful countryside.
The buildings at Fattoria La Loggia in the Classico Chianti are medieval and although beautifully restored, the interiors are still traditional inside.
The leaning tower of Pisa – an amazing piece of architecture despite it structural faults. It’s worth visiting the town and marina at Pisa too. I’ve heard many people say they didn’t know they were so close by.
The Ponte Vecchio in Florence, the only bridge to survive the second world war. It is lined with designer jewellery shops and above is the secret passage built by Vasari, commissioned by the Grand Duke Cosimo d’ Medici to walk to church and avoid the dirty streets.
The famous Duomo in Florence – the architecture and art at the Uffizi Gallery will keep you busy for days. All within easy walk of the station. My character spent time in Florence with Alberto
The stunning coast at Castiglioncello, south of Livorno. It was the Sorrento of the 50’s and 60’s where super rich had sunned themselves and had holiday homes. Now having a renaissance.
