A book that really captures the beauty of Australia
Bronwyn Bancroft is a famous artist who was born in the NSW town of Tenterfield. She is a visual artist who loves to capture the beauty of what she sees around her in her work. She has captured so many varied landscapes in her book as she paints and evokes settings as varied as the boab trees to the plains. The book is a homage to Australia and the Aboriginal artwork here is adorned with simple captions to further highlight the various places evoked.
A journey around the wonderful and very diverse country that is Australia through the eyes of an author and painter. She sees the landscapes in a way that no one else can and how she recreates them in Aboriginal style is a homage to the people and the culture. The variation of the landscapes is something in itself but it’s the way in which she paints and captures the essence of each of them that is the real beauty of the visual journey here.
From the red sandy outback to the rugged coastline to the dramatic gorges to the alpine peaks, oh and not forgetting the rainforests – every landscape you can think of is here and more.
With paintings and few words, this book showcases the very best of the Australian landscape. It’s a book – like the real thing – that the more you look, the more you see.
Susan:
I just love the artwork this author creates. With the few words, the pictures just totally capture the country’s varied beauty. She’s well loved in Australia and has written quite a few books using her paintings and for me I really think she showcases Australia and its Aboriginal culture in a very unique way. I almost want to rip the pages from this book and frame each one but my love of books prevents me from doing so.
