2000s: Imagine waking up in a snow globe. . .
2000s: Imagine waking up in a snow globe. . .
Krista begins to realise that very feeling when she arrives in the winter wonderland that is Quebec for work. Krista is a journalist and is there to report on Canada’s magical Winter Carnival
It might be cold outside but it’s magical in many ways which makes her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. There’s dogs with sledges, ice palaces and maple syrup on everything. A real Canadian Narnia.
And who’s this coming through the woods, this rather handsome man called Jaques? What happens when that snow globe is shaken up?
For a real experience of your very own Winter Wonderland in Quebec – you really have to visit the real Winter Carnival – first started in 1894 when the habitants of New France started the tradition of getting together just before Lent to eat, drink and generally celebrate. The party starts from the end of January and lasts until around mid-February.
Wrap up warm for this is a cool crisp visit to a real life Winter Carnival and a real life piece of Quebecois history.
Krista has a mission to bring this Winter Carnival to life on her travel website Va-Va-Vacation. She aims to bring this festival to life and to really immerse in its many experiences even staying in an ice hotel, with the magical Chateau Frontenac in the background looking like a fairytale castle.
Oh there’s huskies pulling sledges and skiing and everything that someone visiting the Va Va Vacation website would love to find out and do in Quebec. As would Krista herself, a girl unlucky in love.
Throughout the book Krista acts as one of the best tourist guides as she does the activities and discovers the city and shares her experiences with you. She even has a list of dos and don’t for your next trip. The main message of which seems to be ‘ more research equals less regret”
