Travel with two fictional characters on vacation

You and Me on Vacation is a love story is being billed of a homage to When Harry Met Sally and One Day. I think it’s more than this. It’s a fun, sweet read of two friends who fall in love and who use their holidays to get to know each other, bring back memories and to grow together.

You get to go on around 10 holidays with this pair – buckle up for quite the literary journey!

‘Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book.’

Personally I think wanderlust and staying in with a book are perfectly compatible but that’s just a niggle haha. This quote captures the magic of the story in that two friends come together and are more compatible than they realise.

With a nod to When Harry Met Sally, you just want these two to get together from the start. Their story is told in flashbacks via their holidays which I thought was just magical. I mean, these holidays were great and their story built and built…. You couldn’t help get captivated and I’m not usually one for romantic books. Something with this story just spoke to me however!

Take one holiday when they find there’s only one bed in the room. Well, ok, this is in every romantic movie on the Hallmark channel but it works! You just want these two to end up together. Even cynical little me haha.

The locations and holidays are all lovingly evoked. I was there with them every step of the way. To the new place, the hotel, the beach….. All those new discoveries and that’s about themselves as well as the destination. This was just a great way of telling a story of a relationship and I was filled with romantic wanderlust as a result.

We all need a Poppy or Alex in our lives. Especially now. Now is the best time to read their adventure and wish for your very own…
