Books set in teashops -BookTrailLiterarySettings – Today in the UK, it’s National Tea Day apparently so what better time than to grab yourself a cuppa and read about tea drinking in a novel. There’s plenty of books where characters drink tea of course and it’s not all Jane Austen and novels set in stately homes!
There’s a visit to several tea shops in these novels plus a visit to a plantation and there’s even an Australian character who wants to sell tea to teh English! It’s all kicking off here on #NationalTeaDay

The Oddest Little Cornish Tea Shop by Beth Good
Despite the author’s surname, this is not the place to be on your best behaviour. You’re going to want to drink and eat cake for ages in this lovely place. We all love a tea shop where the cups and saucers don’t match and where the tables are rickety, don’t we? This is one of those places and just imagine drinking tea in sunny, relaxing Cornwall? Aaah dreams are made of this.

A woman returns to Haworth and takes up baking again to help her adjust to her new life. She even takes over a run-down little teashop and dreams of setting up an afternoon tea emporium.
Now THIS is the book and place in real life to have tea. Set in the heart of Bronte country, drinking tea in Haworth which was where the Bronte sisters wrote their novels (which contained lots of tea drinking). There are some of the finest tea shops in the land in Yorkshire and I am told on good authority that Yorkshire Tea is amazing. Treat yourself to Betty’s tea shop in either York or Harrogate as this is where you can imagine how tea shops used to be. They serve on china plates, the tables have old-fashioned table cloths and the waitresses dress as they would have done in the olden days.
