BookTrail Judging on the Historical Writers Award!

Historical news!

I’ve been invited to be on the jury for the HWA Debut Crown 2017. That will entail being sent a royal chest of books to read between now and June and the royal command of having to choose the top ten for a longlist that represent the genre, offer something new, show great writing and that we really enjoy reading!

Along with my fellow judges, we’re all going to be sitting on thrones (hopefully) whilst we anoint the winner – I’ll be joining novelist Emma Darwin, journalist Ayo Onatade and winner of the HWA Debut Crown in 2015 Ben Fergusson. It’s all run by the Historical Writers Association, and this year the award will award two new crowns – the best historical novel and the best non-fiction historical book published in the UK during the judging period.
