Sam, the main character of this series, is fast becoming a favourite fictional friend of mine. She is one funny lady. As witty and as sarcastic as a Brit! What she is really good at is her job and the way she goes about it. It was also lovely to find out more about her home life and ‘see’ her partner and small baby. You have to wonder what your favourite policeofficer gets up to at home – and I loved finding out more in this book.

Back to this case then. The case is a strange one and quite emotional. Sam gets to investigate a case that has been reopened. And it’s been opened by DI John, her kind of nemesis, so THAT is interesting as you will find out…

The case starts off and you would think, well, at least there will be easy wins and good witnesses who remember things. Nope. People keeping secrets and best to keep some secrets for good? Yes, in this case. As for the red herrings and misdirection…bring it on!

There’s two moments that have really lingered…the ending….not sure where that leaves us but I am keen to find out. And that twist or should I say twists….

Oh this is a good series and then some!
