Every time I pick up a ghost story as the nights are getting darker and spooky season will soon be upon us, I do worry about my own sanity. Why I choose books that creep into my mind and make me have dark dreams is beyond me. BUT when I read books like this, it’s so worth it!

I was swept away to Wales in this spooky outing. I got to know Kyle who has been left a house in the Welsh countryside so I went with him and wife Lydia. They have a young baby and are broke and tired so getting this chance in life seems too good to miss. Well…..

I had only been in the house a few chapters when it was very clear indeed that this house was not right. Of course I expected this given the cover and the blurb, but wait until the house swallows you up! Take care not to make a mark on the furniture – oh wait is that a scratch? Who did that?

Blimey this has some genuinely scary moments. I worry about the author’s mindset – haha not really as this is genius and genuinely creepy. I felt uneasy, unsettled yet totally captivated. I did feel that the end of the book seemed a bit quick but maybe that was me trying to finish it so I could go and lie down in a very bright room with a hot cup of coffee to recover.
