A story of perhaps the most enigmatic painting in the world? The Mona Lisa, who was she really? Well this novel looks at that and follows her path in life and gets under her skin. Eventually we find out how and whey she became to be the focus of that painting now on display in the louvre, Paris.
I was fascinated to be part of this world. To be there as Leonardo painted his art and see his fascinating with his subject. This is not his story however, for we get to hear the voice of the mysterious and enigmatic lady herself. One of the so-called forgotten women of history; someone we recognize instantly but know little about.
The entire reading experience was fascinating and very immersive. I got to walk the halls of Versailles, Fontainebleau and the halls of Paris’ Louvre museum. I was captivated by Leonardo’s studio and how the painting came to be. Very magical and you could feel the painting, the story and the legend coming together with every pen stroke or paintbrush.
This was a fascinating read for me. I love going back in time to real places and meeting real people who I have only ever seen in history books, or in this case, art museums. What a wonderfully cinematic and compelling story!
