Map Monday

Maps are everything. Of course that is something you’re going to read here on The BookTrail. What is also very exciting however are floor plans. Books with maps of houses inside them.

Just look at this from Alex Hay’s The House Keepers:

The detail is delightful. It’s exciting as it reminds you of the game Cluedo where you try to guess who murdered whom and in what room and with what weapon.

The book is very heavily dependant on the reader knowing what the house looks like and where the various inhabitants live so this map is just brilliant. It’s a work of art in itself when you look at it. Your eyes wander over it going from room to room and exploring  various routes throughout the house. Pretty much like you do in the novel, so the map really complements the reading experience. It makes such a difference to have a visual representation of the house as the story is about a heist and we all need a map for a good heist!

This is such a good map for the story within and it’s a work of art in itself.
