A novel to transport you to Capri

First of all, Capri SHINES in this novel. Ok, so I might have felt extremely poor whilst there in the book and very very pasty looking at all the golden brown people but Capri itself is the star of the show. Katy captures it as if her pen transforms the sights and smells of the place into words.

And what a background for this story of evil personified! The vipers are indeed out in force. Snakes in the grass and you don’t know who is who or what they are up to. One person died on this island and this family returns there every year. That was weird from the start. But then, the daughter of the dead woman plots her escape from the family and the island. That’s when things get really twisty and dark.

I think Capri was the ideal place for this story to unfold. There’s wealth and it’s paradise yet there are snakes everywhere. The characters were genius – some I liked, some I didn’t but all of them I hated in their own way. This book messes with your mind. You might even need a Capri cocktail to calm you down. Those on the island however plainly do not need alcohol to get up to what THEY get up to!

Think of the cliffs – stunning view but difficult underfoot and there’s a risk of falling to your death…..this book takes you on that perilous journey.
