Newcastle Noir BookTrails!

  • Submitted: 18th March 2019

The BookTrail has allowed me to do many things and go to many places, but I never thought I would be guiding literary tourists around my home town! For this year’s Newcastle Noir, I will be guiding guests around the city, starting aptly at the City Library, to many of its literary sights! There’s a few Vera spots of course, but so many more.

The walks will last around one hour each and run on each of the days of the festival. It was SO interesting putting this tour together and showcasing some of the city’s iconic sights. But it’s the hidden corners and ordinary streets that prove to be the most fascinating! You’ll never see Newcastle and the Quayside in the same way again!

So what’s it all about?

“Explore Newcastle through the eyes of some criminally good authors. Where does Vera buy her hats? Where is the crime scene in the latest Mari Hannah novel? Where on the Quayside does L J Ross Author make DCI Ryan face his fears? Find out all this and more by coming on the Newcastle Noir Book Trail guided by our festival partner The Book Trail.”

N.B.: Tours are expected to take 60 minutes, starting at City Library. The tour ends on the Quayside and you will then have the option to return to the library on foot or you can choose to take the Q1 bus up the bank to the Theatre Royal and then walk around the corner to the library.

The tour will include a descent and ascent of some moderate/steep inclines to Newcastle Quayside. In inclement weather, the tour may be cancelled at short notice. If this happens, we will refund your ticket or try to book your tour on another date. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
