Nigeria Noir – My Sister, the Serial Killer – Oyinkan Braithwaite
Lagos Noir, Nigeria Noir…
It doesn’t get much darker than this. A sister keeps trying to cover up for her murdering sister by burying the bodies. Sisterly love? Siblings don’t usually go so far…

Bookreview
This was a dark and twisty tale! If there ever was a novel where your tongue has to be in your cheek as you read and your dark humour dial turned up to the max, this is it.
Two sisters in a very male and family dominated society are pressurized to help each other. But what do you do when one of you is an upstanding member of society and the other a serial killer?
Lagos provides the backdrop and the cultural references and the wonderful looking Yoruba language which is peppered through the text, but this is no city guide. What it offers is an insight into families but a dark one at that. And plenty of things to think about – there’s lots of social commentary between the lines!
The dark humour is really dark at times but it is funny. Unique and memorable. The blurb is..well.. Perfect. The cover is striking but I think it could have been more edgy like its content. The contents inside are deliciously dark..
Lagos never looked so….dark noir
