October BookTrails round up

  • Submitted: 28th October 2018

There have been some fine reads out this October and we’re not even at the end of it yet!

Where did we travel to when Autumn was settling in? Not that it matters, as the weather might be a bit miserable in real life, but it doesn’t stop you heading off to anywhere, anytime!

Yorkshire, Bronte Country

A Snapshot of Murder

Always a lovely place to go, and Kate Shackleton is always the perfect literary companion. Bronte Country is the setting of so many novels of course, and this time it’s the setting of a novel which includes the opening of the Bronte Parsonage and the Bronte museum there. So it’s a literary tour which comes full circle!

Northumberland and Florence

The Hermitage

Two locations for the price of one here. It’s always exciting when characters so firmly identified in one place, go on a tour/adventure to another and DCI Ryan is off to Florence!

Two storylines mix well – there’s a lot going on in Northumberland and in the Hermitage of the title. Ross’ novels always use a North East location as a title and starting point and this one is a lovely gothic hermitage.

Florence brings the sunshine…well at least in the weather, DCI Ryan has a  job to do and it’s not going to be easy.

England, Norfolk

Tombland

Step back into the past with this one for the long awaited book seven in the Shardlake series.  There’s actually  a part of Norwich called Tombland and reading this book will take you back there to a time where murder and intrigue spilled over the cobbled streets and the grand gates to the city.

The Shardlake series is an excellent immersive experience into England’s Tudor times and beyond. In this latest episode, KingHenry VIII has been dead two years, and civil unrest is at its all time high….

Norway, Shetland Isles, The Somme

The Sixteen Trees of the Somme

The paperback of this amazing read came out on the first of the month and if you haven’t caught it in HB or kindle, then this is a good day for you!

This is a remarkable read in many respects and there’s not really that much to say as this is a novel to discover. Just be prepared to be amazed.

And a special one as the location was unique and it was the first ever publication from the new Verve Books:

London, Oxford, Tel Aviv

The Righteous Spy

In the world of espionage, the game is treacherous, opaque and deadly…involving Mossad, the CIA and MI5….

The righteous spy Merle Nygate

That was just five of the highlights of what came out in October.

Where did you travel to this month?
