Plane, train and automobiles

With the Olympics underway in China, we thought about what event you might want to do if you were a book lover and wanted to take part in a event such as the Triathlon? Well, it’t not an Olypmic event but it does involve a lot of training and some stamina so it could be an event.

If you even read this four books one after the other, then that’s pretty good going – a kind of sporty event in itself!

Planes, trains and automobiles

A lazy journey on a Sunday is what you need.. Pick from the following…

Train

A ticket to Oblivion

A ticket to Oblivion

A Ticket to Oblivion

So many to choose from but a series to choose from here – The Railway Detective. There’s some really good mysteries in this series and spoilt for choice really! In Ticket to Oblivion which is set in 1858, two women board a train to Oxford but when the train arrives, they are nowhere to be seen…

There’s something really special about trains in the golden age – steam trains, old fashioned platforms, ticket machines, train inspectors. This is when England had a burgeoning train industry and it was often a luxury or at least a novelty to travel in this way

Automobile

From Italy with love

From Italy with Love

What about a tour across Italy in a Ferrari? Car lover or not, this novel will take you across some of the most stunning scenery evoked in a novel for ages! You’ll the petrol and the excitment for ages afterwards. It’s a great story with a great journey involved and it makes for some exciting reading!

If you’re a Ferrari enthusiast then this is definitely the book for you – it’s a homage to the great car itself and the locations mount up faster than the speedometer – Honfleur , Le Mans, Orleans and the Loire Valley . Then off to Chaumont, Bresancon, Basle, Zurich, Monstein, Bormio and Maranello. Then there’s the famous Stelvio Pass – the journey from Switzerland to Italy and all the way to the home of Formula One – Maranello.

And to travel more internationally…….a ferry/cruise…..

All by myself alone

All By Myself Alone

There’s a cruise to remember from New York To Southampton and beyond. IT’s getting murderous not long after the ship leaves the docks mind, so hang on to your hats. And if you were hoping to get to Southampton safely, then, well, you won’t. This is a book where the journey is more than the destination itself but it’s questionable whether the destination is even achievable on a cruise with this lot!
