The Bone Thief set along the Camino de Santiago

The Bone Thief – la ladrona de huesos

BookTrail Spanish Ambassador – Well, this is an author to watch. Already featured on The BookTrail with When the Storm Passes, this was found in TheBooktrail’s “cemetery of forgotten books” and brought to the fore.

It’s about a girl who loses her memory in a savage attack. Carlos, the man she loves says he will help her reclaim her memories but then he disappears and she has no way of getting in touch with him. Lost and confused, she tries to track him down and then she gets a call saying that to see him alive again, she has to do something for the kidnappers…stealing the relics of the Apostle in the cathedral of Santiago.

Sounds farfetched? Well maybe so, but it’s a cracking thriller….

A novel to transport you to Camino de Santiago

Map of locations in la ladrona de huesos

A thriller with a wonderful setting – part of the Camino de Santiago! This was a great find as I travelled back to see this wonderful location used in such a captivating way. Talk about seeing an iconic place in a new light!

Who was Carla before she was attacked? That was a great premise of the book and those chapters interspersed with flashbacks to her past were very nicely done. Then, back to the present and BOOM kept seeing things in a new light. Very twisty and messed with my mind in a good way. There were a few movie moments and by that I mean they seemed to be there purely in case the book ever gets on the big screen, but get your popcorn ready now as they did ramp up the action.

There were moment too that this book reminded me of the tv series Hannah or Villanelle. The fact that it’s set around such an iconic Spanish place in history then the whole package cemented it for me – a great adventure in book form
