A novel to transport you to the Maldives!

I really loved Nikki Smith’s novel The Beach Party and I was just dying to read this one. What I have learned is that however compelling the locations she writes about – I will never go on holiday with this author. Think I will just stick to literary events where there are witnesses haha!

Very pleased she picked the Maldives as I haven’t been there in real life and I haven’t been here in many books either. I love thrillers where paradise turns bad and Nikki does seem to be the author to paint a  picture of the beach and sea with a black brush!

The sense of claustrophobia was intense. This series of islands that make up the Maldives seems to be so scattered with some tiny places so you could easily get lost, become abandoned and find it hard to get to the mainland. Ideal place for a holiday but as i say, never go with the author in real life.

I felt very at home at the Asana Fushi resort and fancy a spa after reading this. With only one eye mask on however if I am to keep aware of what is going on around me. Characters you love to hate and some very dark secrets indeed!

A book that starts at the end and then works back for maximum effect.
