 BookTrail Travel to Secluded Cabin

Welcome to the cabin of your dreams….or nightmares

Three couples are invited to a secluded cabin out in the middle of nowhere for a weekend of relaxation. Sounds good right, but it quickly turns sour. Very sour. Oh it’s  a delight for the reader but not for the characters.

I think the fact the setting is in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere really adds to this. The setting is a character in itself. I mean, imagine. Their stay starts off well. What a lovely location. Georgia state USA. The woods are beautiful and calm. The scenery is stunning. There’s lots to enjoy here.

But oh no. The doubts set in with the darkness. The hot tub seemed like a good idea but once they get out, the cold, quite literarally sets in. Things get cold and colder still. The woods are not quite and peaceful, the cabin might not be safe. And are there shadows in the woods?

There were some parts of the novel that really made me want to go camping but then I thought, no, maybe not a good idea considering. I enjoyed the experience of spending time with the characters and the switching points of view really made it feel as if we were all there together. I was one of them. Except I got out…

The twists and denouement were fun and somewhat unexpected. I had fun with this novel and although the plot at times reminded me of others in the genre, this was fun.
