Travelling with bookish goodies!

  • Submitted: 5th July 2017

Last week I was sent a  very special present. One wrapped in a lovely red box promising all kinds of bookish goodies inside…

I had been told it was coming but it was still a surprise and that wasn’t the best bit….opening it was!

The lovely people at Travelling Reader, a book subscription site for the discerning literary traveller, were keen to connect over tea and chocolates as well as books….and here, in all its glory, is what they brought…

It took me ages to open as I wanted to prolong the moment as long as I could…..Just look at the care and the detail which has gone into this box…how gorgeously red!

Not only do you receive a lovely red box hand Royally delivered  to your door (well it is Royal Mail), the excitement and expectation was very high. The radio was switched off, phone taken off the hook….and I went in….

Travelling Reader

The gorgeous music confetti!

This really is an exciting event – a book set in a particular town or city in England, and then handmaid or carefully selected gifts made for Fernweh fiction and chosen with the location in mind. What could be better! The packaging is second to none! I only dream of packing something as nicely as this.

Look at that detail!

But the gifts….ah the gifts..chosen with care and you can tell. The bookmark in particular caught my eye with the beads and the small figure playing a violin (apt for the theme of the accompanying book). The detail of the bicycles on the tea strainer and the pin. All locally produced and/or sourced.

Cambridgeshire was firmly on the map for June. What can you expect for July? Well, to find out – why not sign up?

And keep your eyes peeled as The BookTrail has joined forces with these lovely friendly people to bring you some exciting things in the future! More travelling, More literary travelling boxes and more bookish goodness.  Oh yes, keep those eyes of yours peeled…
